Polished or split soapstone is one of the best materials to veneer a heater in. A pound of soapstone can store approximately 20% more heat than a pound of concrete, and additionally has 4 times the thermal conductivity. What this means for a heater veneered in soapstone is a faster response time from when you fire the unit cold to when you feel the heat, and also a longer period of heat at a higher temperature than other veneers. Heaters veneered in our 30 mm soapstone will be fired on a shorter cycle than those veneered in other materials.

Our soapstone comes in a variety of styles, from large brick patterns as shown to smaller bricks to whole slabs covering the entire heater face.

We produce soapstone veneers for all of our kits and, given dimensions, can produce soapstone veneers for any masonry heater unit you have installed.

Our 30 mm veneer is designed for a quick heat up. If you'd like a more lasting heat, consider backing our 30 mm soapstone with our 1 1/2" or 2 1/4" refractory veneers.
